The UBC Vaccine Literacy Club (UBC VLC) disseminates accurate age-appropriate and culturally relevant information on vaccinations to communities in British Columbia, building capacity to overcome vaccine hesitancy and promote vaccine acceptance.

We share information on the safety and effectiveness of vaccines to communities and groups through social media, infographics, webinars, panel events, workshops, and we are in the process of publishing a children’s book on the science behind vaccinations. We produce engaging materials to encourage vaccine confidence, the adoption of public health measures, and evidence-based decision-making.

Vaccines are fundamental tools for preventing infectious diseases, and the COVID-19 pandemic revealed how vaccines are critical to protecting our communities, including vulnerable individuals who can only be protected through sufficient vaccination rates reaching herd immunity. The COVID-19 pandemic has also shown that complex factors influence the decision of accepting vaccines and that we must approach vaccine-hesitant individuals with empathy.
